Photographing on the subway is a challenge. New Yorkers aren’t always happy to have their photos taken.
A huge group of school kids pushed and shoved their way into an already packed train. I asked one kid if I could take some photos. He looked at me with very little interest and kind of nodded his head OK.
The platforms at rush hour are pretty good places to photograph. Everyone is in a hurry and could care less about a tourist with an iPhone.

I spent some time on the corner of 15th Street and 9th Avenue pretending to be a street photographer with my iPhone.
As I’ve mentioned before, street photography is very challenging. Things happen so quickly. Framing is so important but so difficult. Sometimes it was matter of inches or a split second. Most of the photos were not successful. Here’s a couple I liked.

Plein Air in Washington Square.
Washington Square Park is a great place to put your tired feet up and people watch. Locals, tourists, artists, musicians, kids on bikes doing wheelies all sorts congregate here. Keely was working on a watercolor that caught my eye. Thanks Keely!

Day 2: We catch an early morning D Train up to Yankee Stadium in the Bronx. Cooper is running the Bronx 10 Mile. It’s a NYC runners happening- 14,000 participants. He’s catching air and smiling at the finish line!

I’m just back from ten days in NYC. Here’s one that caught my eye. He was zooming by on an electric bike. The photo happened quickly. I just turned and panned along with him. No time to frame or focus. It reflects the moment and biking on Broadway!

I made these three photos in the spring just before heading to Denmark.
It was a warm Sunday evening. Kids were enjoying their freedom.
