Southern Spain

Outside the walls of the Mezquita.

Córdoba, outside the walls of the Mezquita.

The Mezquita, once was a mosque. It was built in 785 on the foundation of a Christian church. In 1236, after Córdoba was recaptured by Fredinand III, the Mosque was reconverted into a Christian church. The Mosque was modified but still contains many Moorish architectural features.
