Most mornings I’d get up early and wander with my camera(s). The river was one of my go to spots.

I’m just back from a family vacation to Hanalei Bay on the island of Kauai. Hanalei has to be one of the nicer places on the planet. There’s a small town, a picturesque main beach, crystal clear, blue water, and it’s surrounded by dramatic looking, green mountains. Here’s a photo that caught my eye on a first quick edit. I’ll be posting more soon.

Sometimes the surf scene at Waikiki can be overwhelming. From first light to sunset, surfers file into the water.
Many, are trying surfing for the first and maybe only time.
Others, are experienced wave riders and surf Waikiki daily.
It's a crazy, crowded scene but newcomers and seasoned locals all seem to have fun.

The guy in the foreground, the couple in the middle, shoes, beach toys, the light and the sky. I don't know, the scene caught my eye.
I took this one moments earlier. It has a completely different mood.

This is Andy from Germany. He was sporting a Leica M9 and a cool straw hat.
They were sitting near me on Kalakaua Ave. They had a look goin' and I wanted to photograph them. I speak no Japanese and they spoke no English. Somehow we got the photo made.

The Duke Kahanamoku statue is probably the most photographed spot in Waikiki. At times people have to wait in line to get a photo of themselves standing in front of Duke's likeness.
This is Kris, an Australian surfer now living in the San Francisco Bay area.

Impromptu yoga session. The older man was doing yoga on his surfboard. The woman was passing by and joined in.
Everyone is a star on Waikiki Beach. They asked me to take photos of them with their cameras. I took this one with mine.
