The morning scene at Walls has a completely different feel than the afternoon action.
Morning run.

Hunting Beach and Santa Cruz have nothing on Waikiki Beach when it comes to the name "Surf City".

The pace picks up as the day goes on. Spontaneous cart wheel.
"Walls" is one of my favorite spots to photograph around Waikiki. Local kids gather here to boogie board, jump off the jetty and hang out. In the afternoon there's always something happening.

They seemed to be in two separate worlds. She, absorbed in photography. He, looking for fish to spear.
And, I'm in mine.

Pakalika after a early morning surf.
When people ask me to snap a photo of them with their camera I always ask if I can take one with mine. A classic early morning Waikiki moment, calm water, soft light, clouds and a young couple enjoying it.

Just back from a trip to Oahu where I focused my photographic attention on Waikiki Beach. I'll be posting some photos from the trip as I develop the film, make contact sheets and edit the images. Meanwhile, today's photo was made with Holga 120S. Printed on a newish photo paper, Ilford MG ART 300. It's a beautiful paper for Holga images. It's super textured, making it excellent for hand coloring. I took the photo last year on Waikiki Beach and hand colored it recently.
