Umbrella Scene

Kind of a unique umbrella arrangement.
Add a woman walking her dog.

Mono Lake

I got up early one morning to catch the good light at Mono Lake.
As the sun peaked over the White Mountains in the east, the Sierra Nevada glowed in the west.
The tufa towers, formed when fresh water springs containing calcium bubble up
through the carbonate rich lake water, looked other worldly.
Even the dry desolation of the area looked beautiful in the early morning light.

Tuolumne Meadows

Alice, taking in the scene at Tuolumne Meadows on day one.
After the hot drive it felt great to be at 8,619 feet elevation and 66 degrees.
These photos were made with a LOMO camera and Kodak Color 200.

On Foot

Just back from a week in the Sierra Nevada. We were in the Eastern Sierra and
the Tioga Pass, and Tuolumne Meadows areas.
These photos are from a hike we did yesterday in the Twenty Lakes Basin.
This scene reminded me of a Rothko painting.

The Pyramids

The Pyramids are a part of the MAH’s Common Ground- place inspired outdoor
artworks. Here two workmen shovel sand creating a pyramid.
The artwork is the idea and design of Jim and Brighton Denevan. Currently on display
at Cowell Beach.

Seen on a bicycle ride on Valencia Road, Aptos. I love the hand painted sign!

Forest and Meadow

This tiny oak tree on the edge of a golden meadow caught my eye while on a Sunday walk.
