State Route 25

If you’re traveling to Pinnacles National Park and headed for the east
gate you’ll have an opportunity to check out Highway 25.
On a Monday in December it was nearly empty. No cars ahead.
No cars behind. It feels like old California
It’s road trip ready. Small towns (Tres Pinos population 476), cattle ranches, an occasional vineyard and lonely trees. Not yet an offically designated “scenic highway” it certainly fits my definition.
All photos made with a Polaroid One Step2.

Alice’s Birthday

Yesterday we celebrated Alice’s birthday at Pinnacles National Park.
We hiked a challenging loop up to the High Peaks area.
We saw California Condors in flight, amazing vistas, rock formations and colorful lichen.
Volcanic rocks formed 23 million years ago!
Happy Birthday Alice! I couldn’t imagine a better way to celebrate!

The Rivermouth

The rivermouth has shifted way up the beach this fall. It’s been a great place
for kids to play and for beach scenes.
This one was taken a little later on the same afternoon.

Marigolds

I saw this scene yesterday afternoon at Rio Del Mar.
I wondered what the story was???
Whatever it was, the flowers in the late afternoon light were an eye-catching display.

Senior Surf Check

Yesterday morning at Sunset State Beach. A group of older surfers gather at water’s edge to get a closer look at the foggy surf scene.
