Scarborough Marsh

Just outside Portland, Scarborough Marsh is the biggest saltwater marsh in the state of Maine.

A serene place on this afternoon. We were lucky to catch it after a morning of mostly grey weather.

We walked on a multi-use trail that was well used by local joggers, walkers and bicyclists.

Palms (Vacation continued)

If you've looked at my web site you know I have an affinity for palm trees.

Small Boat, Big Water

The last frame.

I liked how tiny this fishing boat looked, surrounded mostly by ocean.

Practice Makes Perfect (maybe)

When I used to teach photography, students would always ask how they could become better photographers. Photo is like anything else I'd tell them, if you want to improve, you need to get out and make pictures. Like soccer, piano or cooking, if you don't practice your craft you won’t get better.

I try to follow my own advice and get out with a camera as much as possible. Now that school is out, the beach area is operating in summer mode. Weekend mornings there are usually things happening. Volleyball tournaments, classic car shows, fishing and tourists getting an early start on the day.

Here are a few of things I saw last Saturday morning. Not portfolio stuff, practice.

Walkin’ Wilder

I took a walk in Wilder Ranch the other day. I walked fast and carried one Holga with 12 exposures. On the left is the Long Meadow and on the right is Melissa enjoying a moment.

After the Rain

Wednesday morning at Seabright State Beach. Seabright will start seeing reduced services starting July 1, 2011 due to state budget cuts. Seabright is well used by locals and tourists. It will be interesting to see what happens when they stop picking up the trash.

I like the little bend in the middle.
