California State Route 183. I’ve traveled this road many, many times. This was the first time I actually made a special trip to CA 183 for photographs. In the rainy season the water puddles up between the road and the railroad tracks. Add the off kilter telephone poles, a semi-truck heading south and a cloudy sky and it has some visual appeal. It was a bit more difficult to photograph than it looked zooming by at 60 MPH. I spent a fair bit of time looking, waiting for the rain to ease up and photographing at different puddles. Call this a sketch. (Click on the photo to see it at a bigger size.)

I was out early with the intention of photographing people fishing. Sometimes there is nobody fishing.

I was on Main Beach the other day during a brief break in the rain. A few surfers were out in the water, beachcombers were picking out the choice pieces of driftwood, a runner or two jogged along the water's edge and this guy on his little bike was chasing seagulls.

Or maybe the beach is the place you go for a quiet bike ride.

People that fish will tell you that fishing is therapeutic. Catching a fish or two is a bonus. Sometimes I feel that way about photography.
