I was out with my camera this afternoon looking for a New Year's Day photo. I ran into Frank enjoying the warm afternoon sun and a cold beer at the Boardwalk. I made a still life photo of his feet, skateboard and helmet almost a year ago (see Feb. 16, 2012 blog post). He's a Santa Cruz County local and a long time hardcore skateboarder. Happy New Year, Frank and thanks for your time!

The Thanksgiving beach walk is a family tradition.
We're so lucky to live in Santa Cruz.
I had the opportunity to meet Francisco and some of his friends.
I love seeing photographers shooting film and working with unusual cameras.
Here's a portrait Francisco made of me on Thanksgiving Day, 2012! Thanks Francisco!

This is Andy from Germany. He was sporting a Leica M9 and a cool straw hat.
They were sitting near me on Kalakaua Ave. They had a look goin' and I wanted to photograph them. I speak no Japanese and they spoke no English. Somehow we got the photo made.

The Duke Kahanamoku statue is probably the most photographed spot in Waikiki. At times people have to wait in line to get a photo of themselves standing in front of Duke's likeness.
This is Kris, an Australian surfer now living in the San Francisco Bay area.

Impromptu yoga session. The older man was doing yoga on his surfboard. The woman was passing by and joined in.
Everyone is a star on Waikiki Beach. They asked me to take photos of them with their cameras. I took this one with mine.
