I was biking along the alley behind Pacific Avenue when I saw Chris putting on his makeup. He was just about to perform at the Farmer's Market for the first time. He kindly agreed to a few photos.

Ray has been volunteering at the Homeless Garden Project the past couple of months. He's sharpening and maintaining the tools, a much needed task. A veteran, and homeless himself for fifteen years, he finds time to help out. I'm always amazed at the stories at the Homeless Garden Project.

What could be more LA than a chance encounter with an America's Top Model contestant and production crew on the Third Street Promenade in Santa Monica. Cameras were rolling, roles were played, I snapped a few photos and signed a release for CW. Who knows, maybe I'll make the cut?

James is a trainee at the Homeless Garden Project. I generally don't go for looking off in the distance portraits, but this one works for me. I like the position of his arms and hands, the hat and the look on his face.

This is Dee, short for Delores. I met her Sunday afternoon in downtown Portland. She was smoking and waiting for her laundry and agreed to let me photograph her.
The window seat, baseball cap and black and white vest with the plaid pants caught my eye. She reminded me a little of my Grandma Gracie.
