You don't see many gringos in Constanza so the local kids were curious about us. They practiced their English on us and we worked on our Spanish.

Small-engine motorcycles are the most common way to travel in the Dominican Republic. It's not unusual to see three and sometimes four people riding on one. I took this family portrait in Constanza, a farming town in the mountains north of Santo Domingo.

I met Jean Wilbert on the beach at Las Terrenas early one morning. He speaks Spanish, English and French. When I asked if I could make a photo or two of him, he walked up to the small restaurant/bar he runs and posed like this.
