The Tin Can Band was out on Front Street this morning, as they are every Wednesday morning, singing and playing.
The band is made up of military veterans.
Classic American tunes for the most part. You'd recognize most of them.
Thanks to the band for letting me hang around and snap photos. It was a pleasure!

The Spanish take their politics seriously. On our first full day in Madrid we saw three anti-austerity marches. After that we saw demonstrations almost daily. Unions, healthcare professionals, students, senior citizens, people from all parts of Spanish society were marching.
It was impressive to see so many young people out in the streets.
100,000 people out in the streets of Madrid protesting cuts to education.

While walking Pacific Ave. this afternoon I stumbled on Cage 950, a celebration of composer John Cage's 100th birthday.
Some unusual but interesting music was being played by a whole bunch of groups. The Power Strip Ensemble Players were favorites. The event was sponsored by the New Music Works Ensemble- http://www.newmusicworks.org/

I loved the light and the smoke and got permission from Kelly and Joe to photograph. Thanks!

The best show in town last night was the Samba Stilt Circus. Rockin' Pacific Avenue on First Friday.
One of the reasons I love Santa Cruz is street scenes like this one!

Grab shot on Lincoln Street in Santa Cruz. I always find street photography challenging. I have to be a little bit sneaky and very fast. The moment passes quickly.
