Feria de Abril, Sevilla

Feria began as a cattle auction. Now it's a combination of carnival and Kentucky Derby.

Eating, drinking, dancing and dressing up are all part of the festival.

The balloon man.

The balloon man.

It was one of the craziest and most fun scenes I saw in Spain.

It was one crazy scene. There was so much going on I didn’t know where to point my camera.

We left at dark. But in true Spanish style the part goes on through the night and into the morning.

Sevilla

Photographing people is sometimes difficult for me when I'm traveling. That said, I couldn't resist asking this crew for a quick snap!

Southern Spain

Outside the walls of the Mezquita.

Córdoba, outside the walls of the Mezquita.

The Mezquita, once was a mosque. It was built in 785 on the foundation of a Christian church. In 1236, after Córdoba was recaptured by Fredinand III, the Mosque was reconverted into a Christian church. The Mosque was modified but still contains many Moorish architectural features.

Sometimes it's little scenes that catch my eye! In the courtyard of the Mezquinta.

On the Wall

When walking in Madrid keep your eyes peeled. The walls hold hidden treasures.

If you walk too fast or your head is down, you might overlook a gem like this one.

The street art is an integral part of the neighborhoods.

Like the corner store, street art is an integral part of the neighborhoods.

Sometimes it's creative, other times it's a happy accident. Nothing is sacred. Any public space is subject to modification.

Holga Spain

Every once and a while someone will ask me what I'm working on. Well, since you asked, I've been printing (in the darkroom), toning and hand coloring a series of Hoiga photos from Spain and Portugal. I plan to have them up on my web site in the next couple of months. This photo is a preview.
