Street Photography

Hot, sweaty afternoon in New Orleans. Wandering with a camera. Sticking to the shady side of the street.

Feels Like Summer

Found this one in one of my storage boxes! Hawaii, Summer, 1994. I made this photo with an Olympus Pen F, half frame camera and Tri-X black and white film. The print was hand colored using Marshall's pencils and paints.

Southern Gothic

Lafayette Cemetery in New Orleans is full of stories. It's a great place to slowly move through. There's history and tragedy carved into the grave markers.

Flowers, Mardi Gras beads, small, smooth stones. muted tones.

The faded artificial flowers and the worn marble and brick caught my eye.

When the tour groups departed the footpaths were empty.

Roadside Attractions

After using Amtrak to get from NYC to DC to Charleston we rented a car and drove to NOLA via Savannah. A few scenes from our southern road trip.

In the interest of time most of the trip was on big interstate highways. When we did travel on the smaller highways we usually came across a cool spot. This is a public beach on the Florida Panhandle. I love the retro look.

The Battery

A walking tour on The Battery. The Battery is a defensive seawall and promenade in Charleston, S.C. It was named for a Civil War artillery battery at the site. Needless to say Civil War history is huge in Charleston.
