Leonard Knight’s Salvation Mountain, located just outside Niland. Photos don’t do it justice.
Looking southwest, a dry, dusty landscape.
- Alice and I were the only visitors this afternoon. We wandered and snapped photos, taking it all in. It’s an amazing scene. Worth a visit if you’re in the area!

We took a road trip within our road trip to check out the Salton Sea. It was an eleven hour drive door to door. A long day but totally worth it!
A bunch of photographers have done great work in this area. Check out Aaron Huey’s photos on Instagram: argonautphoto and newyorkerphoto Also, his web site: www.aaronhuey.com
I’d love to go back and spend some time photographing.
- Alice, trying to frame a alien landscape.
Abandoned building along the edge of the sea.

Uplift and erosion. There are granite rock formations of all shapes and sizes scattered throughout the park.

I posted a similar scene on November 9, 2013. That photo was made with a digital camera. This one with a Holga and black and white film. I applied a bit of color with Marshall’s oil paints and pencils. Montreal along the Saint-Lawrence River.
