I liked the elegance of her hand, the ring, the sweater and the way she held the cigarette. The chain link fence made a nice frame and background pattern.

Watching the sunset is both a cliche and a big part of beach culture. It had been grey and rainy all afternoon. Just before sunset, the rain stopped, the sun popped out and folks made a beeline to the pier. I couldn't resist a snapshot.

Details from a few of the murals in Chicano Park, Barrio Logan, San Diego. The park, under the Coronado Bridge, was founded forty years ago after a twelve day protest. Building the Coronado Bridge was going to have a negative impact on Barrio Logan and the community wasn't happy about it. The Chicano Park was one of the concessions residents got from the city of San Diego. For more information about the park go to: http://www.chicanoparksandiego.com/. Next time you're in San Diego check it out!

I'm just back from a trip to San Diego. I didn't do a whole lot of photography while I was visiting but I did snap a few pics here and there. This one was taken on the bike, skate, jogging, walking path that runs along Pacific Beach and Mission Beach. I sat on a bench for a long time snapping beach bike photos. I like this one the best.

Waterfront Park, Willamette River and a few of Portland's bridges. It kind of looks old timey.

The chess games at Pioneer Square in downtown Portland can be intense. These guys take their game seriously. It's fun to watch and listen to the banter.

Like any tourist I like to wander around and snap photos with my point and shoot. Here are four things that caught my eye.

This is Dee, short for Delores. I met her Sunday afternoon in downtown Portland. She was smoking and waiting for her laundry and agreed to let me photograph her.
The window seat, baseball cap and black and white vest with the plaid pants caught my eye. She reminded me a little of my Grandma Gracie.
