A room with a view? We stopped in Las Salinas on the way back to the capital, but we didn't stay.

We took a trip to the Southwest (almost to the Haitian boarder) and it looked like this! Bahía de las Ãguilas in Parque Nacional Jaragua is beautiful, remote and uncrowded. This photo is not the result of heavy handed use of Photoshop. That's what it looked like!

This colorful, mass produced art can be found all over Santo Domingo.
I priced them one day just for fun. They weren't cheap (at least for a gringo tourist). I wonder who's buying them?

In Santo Domingo, Parque Colón in the Zona Colonial, was always a good place to hang out. There was shade, usually a slight breeze and always a spirited game of dominos going on.
The players took the game very seriously. Disagreements could be heard across the park. Even with my limited understanding of Spanish and dominos it was fun to watch and snap photos.

Playa Rincón is just a short boat ride away from Las Galeras.
Rincón is not only beautiful, one can get fresh, grilled fish and cold Presidente beer nearby.

View from room 3, Las Galeras, Samaná Peninsula.

From Las Terrenas we made our way to Las Galeras. If you like out of the way tropical spots, book a ticket ASAP. Small town, beautiful, quiet, beach and close proximity to one of the finest stretch of beaches you'll ever see. Really a special place.
