La Paz

The malecón in La Paz is a hub of activity. Mornings and evenings one sees joggers, bicyclists, roller bladers, soccer teams working out and people just taking in the scene.

Baja California Sur!

Just back from a trip to Southern Baja! I'm sorting through digital photos, developing film and getting used to temperatures below 80 degrees. Here are a couple of photos that caught my eye right away. Both were taken in the early morning at Playa Pescadero. To check them out at a bigger size just click on the image.

Tienda de Ropa

I took this photo a little over a year ago in Mulegé, Baja California Sur. I'm usually running six months to a year behind on my finished printing. The process goes like this. After developing the film and making contact sheets I edit and select the negatives I want to print. I then make work prints on resin coated paper. The photos I like I keep out on my light table or stick up on the wall by my desk. After a while if I still feel good about the photo I'll make a nice fiber print. Then I tone the print with selenium or sepia toner. Finally I will hand color the photograph if coloring works with the subject.

Agave, Kauai

I filled out an online Holga questionnaire the other day. Afterward I went back and looked at some of my early Holga photos

I filled out an online questionnaire about Holga use the other day. Afterward, I went to my boxes and looked at some of my early Holga photos. They went back to 1992. This one is from 1995. When I made it, I was thinking of Edward Weston and his photographs of all sorts of fruits, vegetables and plant matter. This photo is a Holga homage to Mr. Weston. (click and it gets bigger)
