The tufa towers, formed when fresh water springs containing calcium bubble up through the carbonate rich lake water, looked other worldly.Even the dry desolation of the area looked beautiful in the early morning light.
The Sixth Street Diner in Los Banos is a great place to fuel up on a road trip.Unique decor and breakfast served all day!
Nicely’s on US Route 395 in Lee Vining in a classic spot. They have a special every night and an extensive regular menu. The food is pretty good and the customers better! You’re not in Santa Cruz Jonny!
On the return trip it was Happy Burger on California State Route 140 in Mariposa. The burgers were enormous and the staff was happy!
Just back from a week in the Sierra Nevada. We were in the Eastern Sierra and theTioga Pass, and Tuolumne Meadows areas. These photos are from a hike we did yesterday in the Twenty Lakes Basin. This scene reminded me of a Rothko painting.
