The Gaylor Lakes trailhead is not far from the Tioga Pass entrance to Yosemite. It’s a short, steep climb to the top. Then a short, steep descent to Middle Gaylor Lake. We only saw two people (from a distance) the entire time we were at the lakes.
We had lunch and walked around both lakes. This is Upper Gaylor Lake. The elevation is over 10,000 feet. I love the desolate but beautiful scene.
These three photos were made with a panorama camera and Tri-X film. Right after a storm moved through and the rain stopped.Cold and wet, late in the day. Maybe the best time for photographing winter scenes.
