Barista Competition

Yesterday at the 11th annual Southwest Regional Barista Competition. It’s being held at the top of the Rittenhouse Building.

It’s a fun event. It’s great to see people that are really into what they do (and brew). And, FOURBARREL from San Francisco was making free espressos and cappuccinos- tasty stuff!

In the Streets (travel continued)

The Spanish take their politics seriously. On our first full day in Madrid we saw three anti-austerity marches. After that we saw demonstrations almost daily. Unions, healthcare professionals, students, senior citizens, people from all parts of Spanish society were marching.

Cage 950

While walking Pacific Ave. this afternoon I stumbled on Cage 950, a celebration of composer John Cage's 100th birthday.

Some unusual but interesting music was being played by a whole bunch of groups. The Power Strip Ensemble Players were favorites. The event was sponsored by the New Music Works Ensemble- http://www.newmusicworks.org/
