Holga In the Park

It was a warm, rainy morning in Central Park. I was out wandering. It was early, darkish and moody and there weren’t many people about. Ideal conditions for Tri-X and the Holga!

This is Jesus. He was taking a break from his bike messenger duties when I asked to photograph him. We talked about New York, art and photography. I snapped some photos of him and he snapped some of me.

I’m currently working on a series of hand colored, silver prints from travels in Spain, Portugal and Morocco. All the photographs were made with plastic Holga cameras. The film was hand developed, prints were made in a darkroom, toned and hand colored. This one is from Plaza de Santa Ana, Madrid, Spain. One of my favorite plazas in Madrid!

Urban Oasis

On the busy westside of Los Angeles, tucked behind the Century Plaza towers, near the Annenberg Space for Photography is a small park. It’s a quiet, peaceful oasis in the midst of Century City. Everytime I visit the Annenberg Space I spend a little time in the park.
